Measles used to be the virus that dominated the news. I reported a two-part series for WHYY in Philadelphia, about why the disease made such a comeback, andlocal protection measureshere in the Lehigh Valley.
For The Pulse, a weekly health and science show on WHYY, I explored the idea of calling little girls beautiful, and the perils of chafing for runners (starts at 42:33).
I conceived, launched, managed, and coproduced The Runner’s World Show (TRWS), a multi-segment, weekly podcast that entertained, inspired, and informed listeners about all things running.
The show placed second in People’s Choice for the 2017 Webby awards. Its 70 episodes have been downloaded more than 2.9 million times.
A few of my favorite episodes:
Episode 9: Running with Dogs We hit the roads with high energy pups to learn why the Dog Trotters program is such an important practice at Providence Animal Center in Media, Pennsylvania.
Episode 43: Eating Disorders and Running This episode began with a survey we built and disseminated through our social channels to get a sense of specific behaviors in our community. It was one of our most downloaded episodes.
Episode 66: Air Force Tested My colleague and I went to the Pentagon to take the Air Force physical fitness test to see how our different training approaches translated into whole body fitness.
I helped launch and edit Human Race, a longform storytelling show about runners and the world of running. The show was created, hosted, and produced by the amazingRachel Swaby.
Episode 9: Close to Home Rachel made me get in front of the mic to confront my mother’s devastating disease.
I created and produced a four-episode, branded health and wellness show for the publishing company, Rodale, to highlight the company's health and fitness titles.
I attended the Transom Traveling Workshop in Marfa, Texas, and had the honor of interviewing a retired National Park Service employee turned environmental activist whose profound connection to the natural world has, literally, kept him alive. My profile of Roger Siglin aired on Marfa public radio.
